These earrings are made using real spotted sawtooth butterfly wings native to India and Southeast Asia. These butterflies are characterized by their black and white wings with sections of bright yellow.
A yellow butterfly, like all butterflies, is a symbol of freedom since they must undergo a series of transformations in order to become the beautiful creatures that they are. Yellow is a positive color - representing growth, life and the sun. Therefore, I like to think of a yellow butterfly as a symbol of rebirth where you can free yourself from your past and bring forth new life to your being.
