This pair of earrings is inspired by the constellation Serpens. It is the 23rd largest constellation in our skies and is the only of the 88 modern constellations that is divided into two parts: Serpens Caput (the head) and Serpens Cauda (the tail). It is located on either side of the constellation Ophiucus, the serpent bearer, representing the healer Asclepius.
According to Greek mythology, the story is that a snake licked the ears of Asclepius and taught him secret knowledge. He is later seen with a rod wrapped with a snake that became a symbol for healing since snakes were sacred animals to the Greeks representing wisdom, healing and resurrection.
