These earrings are made using real Madagascan sunset moth wings - specifically the bottom set of wings. The people of Madagascar refer to this moth as "Loloandriana", where "lolo" means spirit and "andriana" means noble.
Fun fact: the wings have actually no pigmentation and the colors are actually a result of optical interference! What makes this species so special is that the wings are covered in clear scales that scatter light like a prism - resulting in the colors that we see.
