Lunar Guardian Bat Earrings

These earrings were made to look as if they were illuminated by the glow of the moon. The transparent bats shimmer hues of blue and violet depending on the way the light hits it.

Did you know that most bats tend to be less active during a full moon? This is called "lunar phobia." Some scientists have speculated that this may be to avoid detection by predators even though some bats are carnivorous and tend to be the predator themselves. Therefore, activity levels of bats and other nocturnal creatures alike are higher during a new moon (when there's less light during the night) to avoid being preyed on. However, this also means that prey for carnivorous bats is also higher during a new moon which could be another reason for their increased activity.

I like to think of the bats in these earrings as the rebels of the group - flying high and unafraid by the light of the moon.
