Celestial Kingsnake Earrings

Kingsnakes can be a variety of colors. One of the variations is black with yellow markings on its body. These earrings are made to resemble this particular snake. If you look at these earrings in different angles, you will see bands of gold that reflect in the light.

Kingsnakes are from the genus Lampropeltis, which in Greek means "shiny shields." This is such an apt descriptor considering its glossy and well-defined scales. They are called kingsnakes because they sometimes eat other snakes, even venomous ones!

As powerful as these snakes can be, they are actually quite docile creatures. I like to think of them as our protectors - protecting us from the dangerous poisonous snakes by making them their prey.

These earrings are my homage to the kingsnake, the gentle giant.
